August 25, 2010 The Earth is Late for Everything

I am big on the disaster movies and documentaries. As I watch them I see a commonality between them, they all seem to be overdue, long past their historical repetition.

I thought I would line up the big ones, the events that are pretty nasty. As you scour the list you will realize we are nothing more than a nuisance to the Earth and she can shake us free like a wet dog anytime she wants to.
  1. San Andreas Monster Earthquake - The 9.0+ earthquake that will send parts of California into the ocean. Scientists say this one is about 10 years overdue from analysis of past quakes.
  2. Mega Tsunami in the Atlantic - The volcanic eruption of Cumbre Vieja will send half the island crashing into the ocean and send a Mega Tsunami that will hit the entire East Coast of the U.S. Overdue.
  3. Yellowstone Super Volcano - My personal favorite, the Yellowstone Super volcano. Overdue. When this thing goes, it's lights out for the world. Instant ice age, no farming, nothing.
  4. Massive Solar Storm - Overdue. This one is not that big of a deal 50+ years ago, but now, our entire infrastructure destroyed.
  5. Polar Flip - Overdue. The Earth's poles flip positions. It's happened before and unknown effects when it happens again.
  6. New Madrid Quake - The often forgotten fault under Missouri that has dished out magnitude 8 quakes as recent as 1812. Overdue.
  7. Hurricane hitting NY - Apparently this one is overdue too.
  8. 62 Million Year Extinction Cycle - Overdue.
  9. Asteroid Hitting Earth - Overdue.
  10. Viral Pandemic - Overdue. We came close with the recent Pig Flu outbreak.

So if you take this nice list of all the things that could wreak havoc with our big blue marble, we have some terrible things to look forward to one day. Maybe all at once in and around 12-21-2012.

End of Line.
