Now, GMA addressed the cyber-bully aspect of this incident. I fully agree that people making death threats and harassment beyond forum posts is over the line. There is an unwritten rule for Internet Trolls is keep it on the Internet and in the forums. You breach that invisible wall and go after them in the 'physical' world, you went too far. At the end of the day, on the Internet it's just letters forming words. Let it go. Jessi didn't and posted her original video that brought the world crashing down upon her. I am not defending the actions of the individuals threatening her livelihood, but little Jessi is not entirely just a victim here. GMA skimmed over that part, they mentioned it, but made it out to be more innocent than what it really was.
The bottom line is that her family let her loose in a world she was not ready for and they all got a taste of what the real world is like and how far the reach of the Internet is. In this day, is she was 16+ I would put the fault on her, but she is still a child and most of this fault can be placed directly on the parents. Watch the GMA interview and you can see, without being judgmental, that they are not the most technical savvy people and naive when it comes to what really happens. On top of that, they have an 11 year old girl who talks like a sailor and has an attitude. If she is so innocent and this was purely a case of cyber-bullying why was she sent to counseling? It wasn't to deal with the stress of the situation but to deal with her as in individual.
Do your 11 year old girls talk and act like that?
End of line.
