What a difference a week makes. Minnesota proves once again it is the King of Nature teasing. One week ago we were sweating with 50 degrees, clear blue skies, melting snow, and the smell of spring in the air. But then mother nature decided we had had enough and wanted to remind us that this is still Minnesota and this is only February.

Today - A fresh 15 inches of snow (The rock wall is about 3 feet high on the other side)
15 inches of the white stuff. Add on the 20-30 mile an hour winds and I had a chest high snow drift across my driveway. As I write this it's still snowing out, sleeting, setting out Minnesotan minds back a few months. Going from a glimmer of hope, dreaming of warm summer days, mowing the lawn, planting the trees, basking in the warm embrace of the Sun... all shattered over night by Mother Nature ticking off Old Man Winter and making Minnesota the center of their domestic dispute.
So this being a 3 day weekend, we had to get out of the house. So where do you go with a toddler on a crappy day... head to the Mall of America and the amusement park. Get their early enough and you have the run of the park until all the riff-raff show up about noon. Punk teenagers.
End of Line. |
