After my fishing trip to Lake Winnebigoshish in north central Minnesota two weeks ago I took a look at why I blog and Tweet. Hobby mostly, a geeky thing to do partly, but overall it was to make connections and expand networking and realized that I am not doing that.
Binary Blogger turned into an IT news blog with a scattering of IT opinion pieces but nothing much else when it comes to personality. I then took a look at the blogs I regularly follow and others that I used to and no longer read. The ones I read is because of the author not the content. I enjoy the interesting insights into another person's world rather than the same re-hashed news that thousands of other sources have.
I then went back and took a look at my traffic and analytics and correlated them to the posts and finally put two and two together. The biggest burts and most viewed posts I have are not about topics of the day but are pieces, reviews, and thoughts from my point of view. The data doesn't lie. So there you have it.
Before I left I wrote an entry about getting more personal and I sat on creating new posts for a while and thought up on the 'How' I was going to approach it. More blogging and significantly less Twittering. I am getting really turned off by Twitter as an expression vehicle, it's a get the word out vehicle, the blog is where it's at.
Plus it gives me an excuse to re-look at templates and re-deisgn the layout.
This is the start of putting the Blogger back into Binary Blogger.
End of Line.
